Space Sheep

space_sheep_by_laemeur-d4k9wezOver the years, I’ve come to get a great deal of experience with the problems that can arise when learning a language. I will always remember the moment teaching last year when it came to me – how we have to make light of any situation. The mispronunciation of space ship led to some hasty, albeit humorous sketching on the board on my part, and this picture by Laemur illustrates the idea much better than I ever could through the medium of art. Since I’m currently living in a Russian speaking area of the world, I’ll be making contributions on common mistakes and what to look out for. In this case of course, the problem is the distinction between long (sheep) and short (ship) vowels.

About

I have a clear aim in life - to learn languages and to help others learn as well. I want to share my knowledge and experiences in the hope that others can turn a daunting process of language learning into an enjoyable adventure. I want this blog to be a tool that people can use together for the benefit of learning languages to share their own common experiences. No one is perfect, especially me! For this reason I appreciate any and all comments and criticism to help improve this site (of course, I won't shy away from positive ideas as well). Feel free to write in any language - if I can't speak it, I'll make an effort to reply anyway!
